I've always liked the Steeler logo and now I know why: it was originally designed in the 1950s to promote the steel industry, and only later adopted by the Steelers in 1962. The original logo is shown on the left of the photo above. So the logo developed outside the mainstream sports world and its cheap visual style. Read the original article here.
