I started working with the perforated metal again... at this point I'm trying to figure out how to work with the material, more specifically how to cut it. There are (at least) 2 strategies for cutting the material: the first is to ignore the holes and cut it as if it were a piece of fabric with a print on it, and the second is to treat the holes as part of the structure of the material. As you can see from the photo I've been experimenting with the second option. From a practical standpoint I think referencing the holes will result in a smoother edge, but more importantly it slightly transforms the material.
There's even the potential to get organic with the cut. At left, I've drawn in blue ink what might be cut with a water jet cutter.
