Bicycle on bart, 3.10.11 |
Well, I don't really hate disc brakes, but on bicycles they seem sort of redundant to me. I mean, there is already a disc (the rim). Yeah I know there are practical reasons for bike disc brakes, but regular bike brakes are beautifully simple and have existed without a redesign for over 100 years.
I recall traditional bike brakes as constantly requiring tinkering with as one pad would always want to ride on the wheel and slow you down.
ReplyDeleteYeah regular brakes do require tinkering. But isn't it worth it to maintain design purity? Sort of like how driving a classic car can be worth not having cup holders.
ReplyDeleteDesign purity is overrated. Think of the clock with no markings everyone was gaga about in the 60s but which was really hard to tell time with!
ReplyDeleteHaha, the same might be said of bluegrass and old time music! :)
