At the sewing company I work with they put old cones of thread on the bottom of chair legs in order to boost up to a proper working height. Sometimes they put more cones on the back legs, or omit the front cones, so as to lean the chair forward. I don't know who invented this technique, but I like it.
My former professor Galen Cranz, author of The Chair would find this interesting.
I also like the fact that they don't bother to take the thread off the cones... purely utilitarian.
If they want to boost the chair up even a little higher, can they put on more than one spool per leg?
ReplyDeleteYes they can and I think they do that. I'll have to double check :)
ReplyDeleteThis made me realize the importance of ergonomics. There is no doubt that people will do anything for good health.
