I know blogs are supposed to be all positive all the time, but that's not the reality of designing and manufacturing products.
When Joanna takes an extraordinarily long time to do a prototype (I had been waiting forever) it usually means that she's having trouble, and that was unfortunately the case this time. As you can see from the photo, she had a hard time sewing the wallet flat, and after meeting and discussing the issue I've realized that it's just too hard to sew the way it is now.
It's kinda hard to explain the details, but the problems are all in the complex outer edges. When we do all the folds it makes the layers uneven. If we could leave the inner fabric edge rough (instead of folding it over) and cover it up with the exterior it would be MUCH easier to sew. I will now have to redesign the edge so it's is easier yet does not make the wallet square and conventional. This is a problem but also an opportunity... Stay tuned for the next iteration!
