Something will become of this

While in IKEA, I noticed the cardboard packing grids. Lots of designers have used grids to model complex forms, and there is even software that does this instantly (123D make).

I'm captivated by the idea because the potential of this technique seems untapped. I've got a couple of ideas and hope to experiment soon.
