Since I started experimenting with laser cutting expanding patterns in paper I've been looking for examples of things made that way. My friend in Taiwan sent me these photos of a bag used for popcorn at convenience stores there.
Artecnica makes this Stretch Bag. They are basically the same thing, but can you see the major structural difference between the two? The cuts in the Taiwan bag are radially true, getting longer as they go away from the center, whereas the cuts in the Artectnica bag are all close to the same length, resulting in imperfect geometry but a more cohesive bag.
I hate to say this but I think both bags are unsatisfying. Maybe this technique is better suited to some other use?
Yeah, i don't really see a whole lot of uses for a bag that's 90% holes. You'd have to put your stuff in another bag inside it.
