I had an appointment to use the laser cutter on Saturday morning to cut out a prototype coaster box. At 10pm on Friday night I still had no good ideas, and was worried. But I was able to come up with this crustacean form.
It closes up on itself and locks together, and can be sealed with a variety of options: some tape, a snap, a Velcro dot, or a hook mounted on the perimeter.
The cut is incredibly simple. I don't know if such a box exists elsewhere, maybe somewhere in Japan.
It's really fun to play with, almost alive. I like this object so much maybe it will become more than just a coaster box!
fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan!
Deletegenius, love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Iveta! By the way, I probably won't do the cork trivet. It's a good idea but in the end it wouldn't be cheap to produce, and I want the coasters to be easy! I'll send you a set with the shrimp package though as long as shipping isn't incredibly expensive :)
DeleteThis is a wonderful option for packaging! In that case I would definitely send something in return, felt magnets perhaps? :)
DeleteSure, I'll let you know when it's ready!
